150 million of the world’s children aged 6-11 are not in school. Of these, 90 million are girls. More than half the women in sub-Saharan Africa are illiterate. Over 80% of women are illiterate in Niger, Sierra Leone, Nepal, Somalia and Afghanistan. Trapped in the learning gap, the odds are stacked against girls.
Education is the key to ridding world poverty, as well as creating social and economic development. Many world leaders have promised to get every child into school, but this job should not be theirs alone. That’s why I have undertaken a project as part of my contribution to eradicate illiteracy and poverty in third-world countries around the world.
I started Project Book Angels, when I was seven years old, which sends used books to children in underdeveloped countries. I believe in the oneness of humanity and equal rights for men and women around the world. You can help this project by donating children books, easy reading books for women, books for teenage girls and any general topic books.
Everyone of us can play a role in educating our future world generation. Next time you clean your basement or want to get rid of your used books, please think of Project Book Angels.

“The elimination of discrimination against women is a spiritual and moral imperative that must ultimately reshape existing legal, economic, and social arrangements. The full and equal participation of women in all spheres of life is essential to social and economic development, the abolition of war, and the ultimate establishment of a united world.” -Baha’i Faith
